Shed update

First the back story . . . my Dad and I have been (slowly) building a big shed over the last two years or so. Okay, great, now you're all up to speed with what I'm talking about we can continue . . .

A couple of weeks ago Dad and I finally put up the first rafter which marks the highest point of the building - hooray! A brief celebration ensued. Attached are some pics - there are a few detailing progress over the months, from when I started on it back in Dec '04 up until a couple of weeks ago.

What's that I hear you cry? The shed might actually be finished one day?!? Well, not quite. Y'see, my parents have just started building their new house up on the hill behind their current one, so the shed is temporarily on hold. And you guessed it, I've been drafted in to help on the house every now and then. Progress should be a darn sight quicker than on the shed though.

On Sunday we put up the first column (see pics) and we were mightily proud of ourselves. Another brief celebration ensued. However on closer inspection we realised that 90% of the temporary welds holding the thing up whilst it was being permanently welded had cracked . . . so it was very, very, very close to coming crashing down. Woops. Still, we live to weld another day.
